As seasons and times go by, towards the culmination of the age, the spirit of the “perilous times” as established in the book of 1st Timothy is constantly being revealed in the world of men. Well-orchestrated schemes of men whose livelihood is about establishing thrones of darkness in the earth, have birthed systems which have further drifted men off the course of truth; so much so that God is now releasing the best of heaven’s artillery to combat the constant and consistent onslaughts of hell against men who seek the knowledge of the truth.
But in the midst of these hazy cosmic-climatic seasons cluttered with wrong doctrines, socio-cultural upheavals, ideological warfare and humanistic ideals on a large scale, it is even more important for us to seek to know more about the advantages God has in store for us, as we seek to know Him more. For the Holy Bible expressly states that: “… by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him.” Colossians 1:16.
Paul by this statement is implying that the cosmic forces which engineer the thought concepts and processes by which men establish systems and structures on the earth, were created for God; therefore we could infer, that all of these forces which shape the perception of mankind, their motivations, thoughts, actions etc… are “in a form”, working for the ultimate purpose of the kingdom of God. Here is another scripture which further buttresses this point: “…we are predestinated by Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will”. Ephesians 1:11 (paraphrased). And so we see therefore, that in every circumstance, there is a working of God which converts issues, challenges and realities of men, to be conformed to the counsel of His will; no wonder Paul the apostle said that God’s ways are past finding out. However, the people whom God could use to bring about this reform in order to birth His will in the midst of chaos, are people who are constantly being processed by the curriculum of meekness.
What Is Meekness?
It’s a state or disposition of being humble or teachable. It’s also a state of self-abasement intentionally for the purpose of self-propulsion founded on an internal stability. It is the ability to put one’s self under willful submission to authentic authority for the purpose of qualifying for authentic authority. It is written: The meek will he guide in judgment; the meek will He teach His way. Psalm 25:9.
God is always concerned about man’s ability to stay under His authority no matter the seeming external challenges all around; the ability to maintain a stable disposition in the midst of adversarial circumstances, is proof of an individual’s solidity in the knowledge of God. Meekness is what guarantees the stability that comes from knowledge and wisdom from God’s word in order to conquer the challenges of life.
Moses was referred to as the meekest man upon the face of the earth: see Numbers 12:3. However, he wielded such an outstanding authority that the “world ruler” of his day dreaded him. Yet this tremendous authority which he wielded, was a result of His meek disposition toward God, and His humble nature in his daily affairs.
When God wants to give a man true authority, He doesn’t give you power first, rather He gives you wisdom; and the wisdom for sustaining power and influence in the kingdom of God, is this code called meekness. Meekness guarantees that an individual will be faithful in his or her assignment toward God, and that makes such an individual an asset to God. God is not as interested in people who wield so much power, as He is interested in those who have “persevering power”. Submission to the end of the journey is not only proof of spiritual maturity, but is also proof of stability which comes from being rooted in Him; it is also a guarantee that in the day of the promotion which comes from God, you shall be qualified for the next level of authority in God’s agenda for your life. Stay tuned.
