The whole bible is replete with instructions which point to what matters in the heart of God, and this is that he desires that we obey Him by yielding ourselves completely to His instructions and coming fully under His government. In the new covenant, Jesus even reveals it more in-depth, stating that those who obey Him are entitled to not just becoming a habitation for God, but candidates who will see His manifestations in their daily lives.
The battle for the souls of men by the kingdom of darkness, establishes men as rebels in the sight of God so that we can not have a full taste of the loving kindness and promises of God in our lives here on earth. While we most times see obedience as something that we should strive to do, little do we realize that we have been called unto obedience. 1 Peter 1:3 puts it this way: Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. Therefore if our calling is unto obedience, then disobedience is a disqualifier towards the actualization of our callings in Christ Jesus.
There is a “spirit of the age” which causes men to craft doctrines which dilute the power of the gospel in order to suit their carnal estate. This is captured in 2 Timothy 3:1, and it reads:This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. All of the above listed negative traits establishes people in disobedience toward God, so that believers become powerless (ie without the manifestation of Jesus and The Father) in or around their lives: We are commanded to “turn away” from such believers, as they may infect us with their culture of disobedience.
The challenge with most believers however is that they believe that obedience at such high standards are for those in the fivefold ministries… This mentality is proof of a mind that is still veiled under the deceptive cloud of satan. Do you realize that people may have a form of godliness but aren’t endorsed by God as believers? In other words, we are commanded to turn away from such because in the sight of God they’re unbelievers. It’s an entirely different scenario when people are striving and consciously putting in effort towards growth into God, these need encouragement , support and nurturing. But where most are comfortable at being carnal, having “safe zones” or grey areas where they do not want the Lord to dispossess them of their “idols”, and yet they stay affiliated to people who are perpetually hungry for God in order to establish the covenant, these the bible says … are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, Vs 6 – 7.
We cannot obey God in these last days if we do not desire to be filled with His power. Power is the cure to carnality and all sorts of canker which deprive us of our inheritance in Him. While many of us do not realize the tremendous power made available to us believers because we still want to retain our grey areas, may we not forget that the disobedience of one man brought about the destruction of the entire planet; therefore our conscious disobedience of the commandments of God have not only personal or corporate ramifications, but national and transgenerational. Therefore when the Lord judges His people, He does so based on the weightiness of the offence and the repercussions it may have caused on earth. This is why when King Saul disobeyed God twice and did not see a need to repent, God repented He had enthroned him, because of the negative impact of his actions on the Nation of Israel and several generations represented.
Disobedience stifles the power of the covenant thereby misrepresenting God before all of creation, and God takes this very personal; thus the need to repent of any disobedience quickly and strive to live above sin as a lifestyle. Obedience on the other hand establishes the power of the covenant, which has the capacity to unlock the books of the destinies of nations and whole spheres and systems from heaven, thereby activating the healing angels of God over whole landscapes. And so rather than groaning at the spate of events in the world today, let us take on the baton of responsibility and reorder our lives unto obedience such that the Master would be pleased not just to find a habitation in us, but also to manifestly express Himself through us into the systems and spheres of the earth, thereby reclaiming His heritage.
This is the true purpose of our calling in HIM.
